Photography has been a passion in my life since I was a teen. At thirteen, I had a part time job sweeping floors and doing janitor work in my dad’s business. At the end of the summer, I had saved the grand sum of $80.00 and purchased a polaroid land camera which had just hit the market. Wow - a machine that made instant photos that I could carry around in my hand.

Since then, I have pursued my photography interest with varying intensity, usually having a messy and smelly darkroom in my home. What a wonder digital has been - no more chemicals, hours in the dark, stained clothes, and everything else that goes along with a dark room.

In my Black and White work, I try to replicate the look and feel of silver prints - their depth and range of gray scale. In some images, I add back color to call attention to some element of the image. In the “good old days” this was a tedious process with pencils or oils.

Lately I have been concentrating on color photography. Follow the color link to my latest efforts. I trying to replicate the look and feel of water colors. Each image requires a somewhat different process to achieve a semi-surrealistic lack of fine detail that one would normally find in a digital photo. During the process, the colors in the images are intensified and saturated to make the colors an especially important element along with the subject and to compete with the subject for the viewer's attention.

I hope you like my work. I sell limited edition prints, canvas (giclee style) photography, and I am available for portraits or commercial photography.

Thanks for visiting

Steve
